Drove to nearby Lacock village - completely owned by the National Trust - although people do live there. Continued to rain as we walked around. Lacock Abbey was founded in the early 13th century by Ela, Countess of Salisbury, as a nunnery of the Augustinian order. The village has certainly been there since before 1100.
