Ventspils is a town still trying to recover from the Russian Occupation. What was once the Police Station stands unused adjacent to the Market Square - a small plaque recalling that this was a place of torture and abuse. Ferries run from here to Scandinavia daily and coal was obviously still being shipped from the other side of the port area. It was a neat and quiet town and some newer development obvious as we drove out of town.
