12/4/2013

Voltech panels have arrived.  The junction boxes on the top of each panel do not protrude nearly as much as we were expecting.  So we have 6 x 100 watt panels to fix to the roof.

It's been about 3 weeks since the last visit and most of the work has been with wiring etc and so visually  there has been no great leap forward like our last visit.  Summary:
  1. rear wheel carrier has been fitted and installed with electric winch
  2. the hot water system  installed beneath the chassis with a stone shield
  3. the wiring for lights, power points, actuators etc installed
  4. inverter, battery charger and solar regulator installed
  5. power board wired above the fridge
  6. the rubber seal - sock - between truck cab and house body attached
  7. the alloy body trims and roof edging have been welded, laser cut (where necessary) and sent for powder-coating
  8. exterior led lighting - custom made - as no 24v lights were found that suited
  9. all kitchen cupboards trims etc have been cut and are ready to assemble
  10. all the accessories eg toilet, laminate, solar panels, water filter, leather for seats have arrived.

laser cut trim

The alloy trim to finish off the front and rear vertical edges have been laser cut and will now be sent off for  powder coating. Normally there would have been a cover strip glued over the wall corners to finish off but we have decided to enlarge these and make a feature of them - still trying to get away from the "freezer truck" look.  The trim along the lower edges - not shown - will be in hammertone while these vertical pieces and the roof edging will be straight black.
