Ipads and cobblestones don't mix. However, the bright side is that despite the screen being cracked from edge to edge, it is still working - just don't press too hard.
The next thing was noisy steering in the truck. Attempted to find an Isuzu dealer - there are some, they're just well hidden. Found a MAN Truck service centre and used Google to translate a "note" to explain the symptons. This was how we came to visit A Coruna - no service for those trucks here in Santiago, you have to go to our place in A Coruna (70 km away). Arrive at A Coruna (spied an Isuzu ad as we sailed past) and were told no, you must go back up the road to the DAF Truck Isuzu place.
Anyway, very courteous and immediate service at the DAF place. Power steering pump is on the way out. Here's 5 litres of fluid, keep it topped up and no problemo to get to Barcelona. It will take a month to get a replacement from Japan. Contacted Isuzu at home and they could send me a replacement in less than a week for a bit over half the cost. Still cogitating as at present rate of top up we will have litres of fluid left over.
The Google technique caught on and the DAF guy wrote us out instructions in return even though his English was 100x better than our Spanish - which consists mainly of "Sorry I don't speak Spanish - do you speak English?"
